Microsoft Opens Fourth India Cloud Region as Asian AI Hub
Microsoft opened its fourth Indian cloud region in Hyderabad, making it a strategic AI hub for Asia and the Global South. The live, three-zone facility forms part of Microsoft’s $20.5 billion India commitment, supports advanced Azure workloads and uses effectively zero water for cooling, expanding regional cloud capacity and resilience.

The facility expands AI-ready computing capacity for South Asia and could support technological solutions for other Global South markets. It also strengthens India’s position in global cloud infrastructure, sovereign computing and AI development.
Microsoft will progressively introduce additional Azure and AI services. Its planned 3,600-kilometre I-2SEA submarine cable connecting India, Malaysia and Singapore is targeted to enter service in 2029.
