Channel crossings remain a major migration and border-security challenge for both governments. Official UK figures show 304 people arrived in six small boats on September 21–22, while French authorities said 129 people were rescued at sea between September 21 and 23 and one person died.
Britain and France are continuing expanded patrols, intelligence operations and surveillance under their April agreement. The partnership provides up to £661 million (€767 million) in funding, including performance-linked measures, and increases personnel dedicated to preventing crossings.
