Bangkok hosts 19th Ganesha Mahotsav
VHP Thailand concluded its 19th Ganesha Mahotsav at Bangkok's National Stadium on 20 September 2026. The two-day festival brought together Thai, Indian and international communities for prayers, devotional music, performances by Thai artistes and a grand Visarjan procession. Indian Ambassador H.E. Ganesha, known in Thailand as Phra Phikanet, is widely revered as the God of Success, Arts and Learning, so the festival speaks to both communities. Thai performers and officials from TAT, TCEB and the Board of Trade took part. That shows the Mahotsav has grown beyond a diaspora event into a platform for Thailand–India cultural ties.
VHP Thailand has committed to continuing the festival every year, and the 20th edition is expected in 2027. Organisers also said they want to build on this year's strong participation from young people and the Thai community.
19 September: The festival opened with the Sthapana Puja, followed by devotional music and cultural performances.
20 September: Devotees performed a Havan with Vedic rites, and a procession then carried the idol from the National Stadium to the Visarjan ceremony.
21 September: VHP Thailand announced that the Mahotsav had concluded.
