Puea Pandin sets to join PPP-led coalition

Puea Pandin Party leader Suvit Khunkitti confirmed on Monday that the Chart Thai Party and his own had agreed to join a coalition government led by the People Power Party.

They planned to make a public statement shortly after the mourning period for HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, the elder sister of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Mr Suvit said the Puea Pandin and Chart Thai parties would announce their alliances with of the PPP later this month to pave the way for the formation of a coalition government.

The Puea Pandin leader, who was defeated in the general election in the northeastern province of Khon Kaen, assured that the PPP-led coalition would be a stable one, despite some of its candidate winners being disqualified for their parliamentary seats at the orders of the Election Commission.

In by-elections for MP seats, all coalition partners would certainly not contest against each other, Mr Suvit said.
However, he added that the terms and conditions set up by the Puea Pandin and Chart Thai parties for joining the PPP-led government would be observed by the leading coalition partner.

Three other smaller parties, namely the Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana, Matchima Thipataya and Pracharaj, have announced their decisions to join the PPP  to set up a post-election government with a combined 254 parliamentary seats.(TNA)-E008
