Bangkok governor pledges action on bio-diesel

Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin said on Wednesday he has heeded the advice of His Majesty the King given on Tuesday, when he encouraged Thais to use biodiesel.

Mr Apirak, who led a team of more than 1,000 civil servants and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) employees in an alms-giving ceremony to mark the king's 80th birthday on Wednesday.

He said he is cooperating with Bangchak Petroleum Plc to introduce a campaign in which locals are invited to sell their vegetable oil to them.

The state-owned oil refiner and retailer will then convert the oil into bio-diesel. This campaign will only be introduced in suburban Phra Kanong and Lak Si districts in the initial stages.
