SET enjoys strong gains

The Stock Exchange of Thailand gained more than 10 points at 823.66 at 11:33am to welcome the end of the general election which will soon see the formation of a new government.

Analysts said the rise in the SET could be attributed to two factors: the Bank of Thailand's economic report due out next week and the formation of a new government.

"On the political front, investors are still taking a wait-and-see approach to find out who will get to form the new government," said one analyst.

Markets across the region have also been enjoying strong gains while the SET was in hibernation on Monday to make way for the December 23 election, which also helped to boost the Thai bourse.
