Musharraf imposes emergency rule in Pakistan
Islamabad (dpa) - Pakistan's President General Pervez Musharraf Saturday declared a state of emergency in the country amid growing political turmoil and rising militancy, an official confirmed.

"The decision was taken in a several hours-long high-level meeting, which was attended by several cabinet ministers, top leadership of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League party and legal experts," a source in the president's office told Deutsche Presse- Agentur dpa
