Dow in global joint venture moves

Russia and Thailand to see US group raising its involvement.

29 November 2007 – US chemical and plastics giant Dow is planning major new investments in conjunction with Russian and Thai partners, it has emerged this week.

In Moscow, Dow CEO Andrew Liveris signed a memorandum of understanding with Gazprom and Sibur on expansion of Dow’s petrochemical production in Germany as well as joint development of natural gas processing of the Valangin deposits in Yamalo-Nenets. The partners will also evaluate processing of the gas deposits in a world scale petrochemical complex in the Russian federation.

The partnership would combine the world’s largest gas company and Russia’s biggest vertically integrated petrochemical company with the $49bn turnover Dow group.
