Printing business likely to grow against economic slowdown

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - The printing business is expected to grow 10-12 per cent this year against the economic slowdown, boosted by people's eagerness to collect pictures of royal ceremonies marking His Majesty the King's 60 years on the throne and campaigns for snap elections, according to an industry executive.

Kriangkrai Thieranukul, President of the Thai Printing Association, revealed people are enthusiastic about collecting pictures and books describing royal missions and ceremonies in an auspicious occasion of the 60th anniversary of the beloved monarch's accession to the throne.

It had considerably stimulate the printing business to an extent that printing orders are so overwhelming that many printing houses could not produce on time.

Printing works as ordered include newspapers' supplementary, books on royal history and missions, and stickers.

He projected the overwhelming enthusiasm would last until the end of next year when there will a cerebration for the 80th anniversary of the King's birthday.

"The printing business has considerably recovered from the economic slowdown due to political uncertainties since people want to collect pictures commemorating royal ceremonies. The business recovery is also boosted by campaigns for the general election, which will take place in October.

"For these factors, I am confident the business will grow 10-12 per cent this year," he said. (TNA) - E005
