Anat Abhabirama, adviser to the Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc, which operates the skytrain service, said the control system of the skytrain experienced a malfunction at around 7.50pm, prompting the BTS operator to suspend services on all routes for 20 minutes for safety reasons. The linkages which enable the Central Control Room (CCR) to monitor the trains in operation broke down. Train stations then had to use phones for a while to continue train operations.
