Energy Ministry sets 2006 as year of alternative fuel consumption
BANGKOK, Dec 29 (TNA) - To follow up a campaign for energy conservation of the country, the Energy Ministry has designated 2006 as the year of alternative fuel consumption.
Energy Minister Viset Choopiban on Wednesday revealed the ministry would continue to focus on encouraging the consumption of alternative energy including natural gas for vehicle (NGV), gasohol, and bio-diesel next year. It would also promote and finance the power generation from renewable energy by using paddy husks as fuel. On bio-diesel, he said, the ministry would encourage oil traders, vegetable oil producers, and fuel distributors to meet and discuss ways to produce and distribute the alternative fuel concretely. He said talks with neighboring countries for cooperation in hydro-power generation would be held to ensure Thai people and those of neighbors consume the power at the lowest cost. (TNA) - E005
