PM to attend ASEAN-India Summit

The Prime Minister is to take part in the ASEAN-India Summit marking 25 years of ties between the bloc and the South Asian nation and which is to focus on strategic partnerships.
Deputy Spokesman of the Office of the Prime Minister Lt Gen Weerachon Sukontapatipak, confirmed that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will be traveling to New Delhi, the capital of India today to take part in the ASEAN-India Summit as well as celebrations for the 69th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of India.
The summit, also marking the 25th anniversary of formal ties between ASEAN and India, will discuss strategic partnerships between the two entities and seek ways to achieve more concrete results and fully utilize capabilities. Informal talks will be held on maritime security cooperation while the main conference will take place on the topic “ASEAN-India, Shared Values and Goals”. Thailand is to indicate its readiness to work with India in all respects and to encourage cultural exchanges.
Gen Prayut is also scheduled to speak with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi before taking part in the country’s 69th Republic Day celebration as a distinguished guest.
