The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has begun accepting applications to join an auction for the acquisition of 489 NGV buses, noting that Beslin Group can still apply despite its blacklisting from a prior project.
BMTA President Nuttachat Jarujinda said a recent a meeting of the authority’s board agreed to set the mean price for the auction at 3.387 billion baht. The figure is the same that allowed Beslin Group to win during a previous auction, but the company ultimately was blacklisted from the bid.
The agency is now accepting bids and plans to announce companies that fit its criteria on September 1 before the auction takes place on September 8. If all goes according to schedule, the process should be concluded by mid-September and the buses can be delivered by December. Bestlin Group has been allowed to submit documents to take part in the auction but it will be vetted by the BMTA legal department.
If an insufficient amount of bidders approach the BMTA, the process will be cancelled and may take 2 months to restart.
