Thai SMEs are encouraged to penetrate Japanese market

ommerce Ministry and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) have encouraged Thai SMEs to penetrate the Japanese market. The Ministry also has planned to establish an SME Business Council as a middle-man to solve business problems.
During a seminar hosted by the Commerce Ministry and JETRO to prepare Thai Small and Medium Enterprises to adapt to future changes, Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakasai said SME businesses were the country’s economic foundation, given 39 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was from the SMEs.
The Minister encouraged the SMEs to expand their export markets to ASEAN and other regions, particularly to Japan, the second largest export destination of the Thai small and medium businesses. Mrs Pornthiva suggested the entrepreneurs take further advantage of the Thai-Japanese economic agreements and gain a toehold in Japan.
